Hi, I'm John Woodhead of "J&R Woodhead antiques" and welcome to my website.
I've been running an early oak business on the border of the peak national park for the last thirty years, which started as a familly run business. I hope to share with you my passion and ideas to integrate early oak and sculpture into any home setting. Fine exquisite statement pieces that can be placed throughout the home, which outlast the initial short lived buzz of modern mass produced items.
My background has really been in fine arts, groomed for Slade School of Art in London, I followed my other heart which was music where I was a recording electronic bass player. Never falling out of love with playing and performing I needed a change of career from the sharp practice business side of music, left with no career I bought antiques to furnish my home, which was fatal! Thirty years later and I am still smitten.
Long after the initial excitement has diminished of purchasing an antique of considerable age, you are drawn into the fascination of antiques, maybe in say eight months time after your purchase you may one day on a sunlit stair well notice a feature that you never knew was there, by this time you too will be smitten!
Pieces include some early period carvings, joined oak furniture, period oak furniture some early carving and medieval carvings and a selection of early sculpture from the 16th and 17th century. We have a good selection of Fine Art, antiques, wood carvings, antique chairs and furniture plus some fine pieces of antique stone work currently available in our Sale Room. If you would like additional information about the pieces we have available, please contact us for information and prices.
